ALL ABOARD .. AmaLegro departed Vernon 6:45AM. Weather still too cold/wet to enjoy topside... enjoyed the beautiful lounge (lots of floor-to-ceiling windows) as we cruised 58 miles (more locks) and watched the picturesque riverside hoes slip by. 2:30 PM we arrive Rouen ... the historic capital of Normandy and location where Joan of Arc as burned at the stake... a city heavily bombed by the Allies during WWII, and a thriving market square (think "flea market"). Enjoyed a walking tour, shopping, churches and museum. Remnants of a church bombed by allied forces Back on board we enjoyed a special French dinner, "Chaine de Rotisseurs"... delicious. After dinner a short lounge visit featuring a local female singer. All the walking, cold air, drinks and good booze got to us so it was time to retire early. AMALegro remained overnight in Rouen. Rouen was 45% destroyed by Allied bombings, Foundation of a building, formerly shops. Lavishly restored office building in the background.
